When it comes to improving at writing, or anything in life, I like to remember one of my favorite passages from George Leonard’s Mastery: “How long will it take me to master Aikido?” a prospective student asks. “How long do you expect to live?” is the only respectable response.
I will never master writing fiction. I can only keep writing. Practice is the path.
Ok, let’s get to it.
Here are 3 crime fiction links, 2 quotes, and 1 question for this week:
3 LINKS
- If you, like me, were disappointed in how Dexter ended, Cinema Blend has collected all that we know about this fall’s upcoming Dexter…epilogue? Re-finale? Bonus season?
- On the 30th anniversary of Demme’s SILENCE OF THE LAMBS hitting theaters, The Ringer has a number of features including how different creators and directors have approached Harris’s universe.
- Glad the loose definition of jail break led to a fun list that included both Toy Story and Out of Sight. Plus, Logan Lucky which I find better with each viewing.
2 QUOTES
Two from one of the best villians ever put to paper, Hannibal Lecter:
-
“When the fox hears the rabbit scream, he comes a-runnin’, but not to help!”
-
“If I tell you, I’m afraid you won’t even try it.”
1 QUESTION
- Have your read the original Silence of the Lambs book or just seen the movie?
Until next Thursday, happy reading,
Mike
