Well, hello! It’s Thursday again. I’m enjoying LONG BRIGHT RIVER this week and listening to old Story Grid podcast episodes. I hope your reading week is going well.

Welcome to this week’s edition of 3-2-1 Thursday.

Here are 3 crime fiction links, 2 quotes, and 1 question for this week:

3 LINKS

  • The huge news this week in the crime fiction world was that Lee Child plans to hand-off his Reacher series to his brother, also a writer. It should be very interesting to see how this plays out. Other writers have definitely had their big series characters continue, usually after their death. Child has a very distinct style. Sounds like they plan to collaborate on a few before Child drops out completely. The one iron-clad stipulation? His brother had to change his last name to Child, too.
  • The other big news roiling the book and publishing world is the growing backlash against the recent release of the literary thriller AMERICAN DIRT. BuzzFeed has a good compilation of the controversy which pretty much follows the modern day social media template.

2 QUOTES

Quotes on reading this week.

  • ‘Reading is the mind what exercise is to the body.’ – Joseph Addison

  • ‘A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.’ – William Styron

1 QUESTION

  • Do you have a favorite reading genre? What is the one book you’d recommend that every person just had to read in that genre? Hit reply or leave a comment and let me know!

Until next Thursday, happy reading,
