Happy Thursday! I hope your reading week going well. I’m reading some ‘comfort food’ this week with John Sandford’s Davenport novel MORTAL PREY. Just felt like a good old fashioned plot-driven book. I’m still listening to old Story Grid podcast episodes.

Welcome to this week’s edition of 3-2-1 Thursday. The most crime fiction news per word on the web.

Here are 3 crime fiction links, 2 quotes, and 1 question for this week:

3 LINKS

  • One of my favorite parts of being a crime fiction fan is following an going series. You can mark the time of the year by the book you are reading. Amazon Book Review looks at the big tentpole books from the leading genre authors coming out in the spring including the 30th (!) Lucas Davenport and the return of Connelly’s Jack MacEvoy.
  • They killed Nancy Drew? It’s a comic book so I’m not holding my breath of her remaining dead but…interesting choice. The internet was not exactly thrilled.

2 QUOTES

Quotes on reading this week.

  • ‘The best crime novels are not about how a detective works on a case; they are about how a case works on a detective.’- Michael Connelly

  • The best crime novels are all based on people keeping secrets. All lying – you may think a lie is harmless, but you put them all together and there’s a calamity.’ Alafair Burke

1 QUESTION

  • Do you always finish every book you start or do you put it down? If you put it aside, you do you decide? After a certain number of pages? Or something else? Hit reply or leave a comment and let me know!

Until next Thursday, happy reading,

Mike
