What are you doing with your quarantine time? I’m trying to use it to write and reflect. Thinking and making are two things that you cannot pay someone else to do for you. No one is going to write this next book for me. It might not be an ideal but I’m trying to use the obstacles as inspiration and work on responding with equanimity and creativity.
Here are 3 crime fiction links, 2 quotes, and 1 question for this week:
3 LINKS
- The first reviews are starting to trickle out for Andrew and Lee Child’s first Reacher collaboration. Some are scathing. Others, not so bad.
- If you’re in the mood for a scary read this week but can’t stomach actually reading any horror, maybe try listening (you can always skip ahead). BuzzFeed has horror audio picks sure to scratch your spooky itch.
- And if you’re still looking for a spooky, BookRiot highlights the best new horror to hit this year. THE DEEP is def on my list.
2 QUOTES
Two quotes from the 1960s Hitchcock classic PYSCHO:
- “Well, a boy’s best friend is his mother.”
- “We all go a little mad sometimes.”
1 QUESTION
- What’s your favorite Halloween week re-read or re-watch to get in the spooky spirit? I love listening to any Poe short such as The Raven or Tell-Tale Heart. And of course watching The Great Pumpkin!
Until next Thursday, happy reading,
Mike
