This is the privacy policy for mikedonohuebooks.com. I’m Mike Donohue. I write the Max Strong thrillers and the Marti Wells mysteries, and I run this site myself. Here’s what I collect, why, and who helps me handle it.

What I collect

Email signups. When you join my Reader Group for free books, I ask for your email address. I use it to send your books, a few welcome emails, and my newsletter, which goes out about once a month. I never sell or rent your email address to anyone.

Contact form. If you message me through the contact form, I get your name, email and whatever you write. I use it only to reply.

Comments. If you comment on a blog post, WordPress stores your name, email and IP address so it can show your comment and filter out spam.

Site stats. I use Jetpack Stats, a tool from Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com), to count visits. It records basic information like your browser type, the page that sent you here, and when you visited, so I can see which pages people actually read. It doesn’t build a profile of you, and I can’t see who any individual visitor is.

Who helps me

MailerLite runs my email list. When you sign up, your email address and signup details (like the date and which form you used) are stored with MailerLite so it can send my emails and show me opens and clicks.

BookFunnel delivers my ebooks. When you download a book, BookFunnel runs the download page and may ask for your email address and device details to get the file onto your reader. If you joined my list through a BookFunnel giveaway or promotion, BookFunnel shared your email address with me, and it went onto my MailerLite list. Trouble downloading? BookFunnel’s support team is quick and friendly, and there’s a help link on every download page.

Both companies have their own privacy policies on their websites.

Cookies

The site uses a few cookies, small files your browser stores, to keep things running, like loading signup forms and remembering that you’ve already closed a popup. You can block cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some forms may not.

Affiliate and retailer links

Many book links here go to Amazon and other retailers. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. When you click through, the store knows you came from my site, and its own privacy policy applies. I never see your name or address, only anonymous sales totals.

Your choices

Every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you’re off the list. If you want to know what information I have about you, or want it deleted entirely, send me a note through the contact page and I’ll take care of it.

Kids

This site and my books are written for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If I change how I handle your information, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
